Description: Clinical Affiliates is the general term for mid-level providers, such as physician assistants and nurse practitioners, at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. Four medical clinical affiliate positions are open:

Acute-care PA and primary care PA functions include, but not limited to, history and physical exams, daily rounds or appointments, ordering medications and lab testing, discharge or home care planning as appropriate, and education of patient and family. The roles of expert practitioner change agent, consultant, education/innovator and liaison are fulfilled in these functions.

Clinical affiliate in surgery, or surgical physician assistant, functions include general surgery, thoracic, orthopedic, plastics, neurosurgery, urosurgery, colo-rectal surgery, and vascular surgery.

Surgical PA Coordinator position requires direct clinical responsibilities in teaching and mentoring, as well as administrative leadership within the core group of general, thoracic, urology, bariatric, and other specialty surgery services.

Requirements for all four roles include: graduation from an approved PA program, certified and licensed by the State of New York; maintenance of CME and licensing as required by NYSEd.; maintain Clinical Affiliate status with SJHHC. Experience helpful, new graduate welcome. Participates in orientation, CME, updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Demonstrates competency in scope of care and services.
